JUNCKER OWES HIS NEXT JOB TO CAMERON WHO COULD BE WINNING NOT WHINING AND MUST NOW COME CLEAN
Before the Prime Minister reports to the House of Commons on the European Council’s proposal to the European Parliament of Mr Juncker as the next President of the European Commission, Dirk Hazell, leader of the 4 Freedoms Party UK EPP, comments:
“Instead of whining about his self-imposed defeat, Mr Cameron could have been winning if the Tories were still inside the EPP European People’s Party with a British Tory as the EPP’s Presidential Candidate.
Since the European election, instead of whining about Mr Juncker, Mr Cameron could have been winning by securing effective British people in key positions in a Juncker Commission to guarantee delivery of the EPP’s five point plan to generate millions of new jobs and to address Mr Cameron’s alleged concerns.
Leaking private discussions with heads of government, denigrating Mr Juncker and heads of government, and fulminating about a treaty agreed by the British Parliament both demean the office of Prime Minister and also fail to serve the British national interest.
Daniel Hannan - the lead Tory MEP in Mr Cameron’s own region - openly tells any broadcaster who will listen that Britain should now leave the EU. Jeremy Hunt in Mr Cameron’s own Cabinet has both insulted heads of government and - while Tories tell others the burden of proof is on those seeking change - demands that others propose how to keep Britain in Europe. If Mr Cameron speaks truth when he claims he wants the UK to stay in the EU, he must now take control of his party.
On Europe, the hallmark of Mr Cameron’s Tory leadership has been consistently dreadful judgment and creation of a vicious cycle of failure by prioritising management of the Tory party over Britain’s national interest in Europe.
The Tory fence on which Mr Cameron has been sitting is obviously on fire: instead of 100% tactics and 0% strategy he must now disclose a coherent, relevant and viable European policy to the House.”
